I am Serena Janine Hampton, a Licensed Hair Consultant. I’ve been a part of the beauty industry for over 15 years. Born into a military family, my parents dreamed of their children becoming Entrepreneurs. They wanted us to live an unrestricted life, giving us the freedom to impact society in a way that they weren’t able to unpack because of the limitations that were placed upon them.

As a teenager, my dream was to style a diverse group of people and create a path for myself that would set me apart from any other hairstylist. I knew that in order to be successful, I had to learn from the best. I attended one of the best Cosmetology schools in the state, the Michigan College of Beauty. The training I received there prepared me for my career as a hairstylist and helped propel me to where I am today.

I have been extremely fortunate to work with many people and on a variety of projects. These include BravoTv, TLC, Essence Magazine, Woman's Day Magazine, Washingtonian Magazine and Munaluchi bride to name a few. In these diverse environments I have gained tools used to enhance my knowledge as a Hair Consultant.

Throughout my career, I have leaned heavily on five principles to put me in the best mental space possible. I think when truly understood, valued, and applied these keys will help to unlock a fulfilling life where you can be successful and accomplish your goals.

  1. Make time for yourself- even if it is just 30 minutes a day

  2. Write things down- declutter your brain

  3. Ask for help- it’s okay to ask for assistance when you need it

  4. Have a plan and execute it

  5. Don’t be quick to respond- sometimes you need to think first and come up with a non-emotional way to react
