Trish’s self-help memoir, Thinking Outside the Chrysalis: A Black Woman's Guide to Spreading Her Wings details her personal journey from trauma to redemption and her 12-step approach to ultimate happiness. Her memoir guides women through the steps required to heal and develop spiritually and emotionally while offering a multitude of resources including book, music, and film recommendations.


The book also directs readers to guided meditations and affirmations recorded personally by Trish and an online Facebook community for Black women interested in personal development through her 12-drop approach.




Her services are based on Buddhist and yogic philosophies and use coaching techniques to enhance Black mental health and wellness. Trish writes a weekly inspirational Wellness & Transformation blog called, "Thoughts on Everything," and has recorded the seventh episode of the companion vlog (video blog) of the same name. She also hosts an inspirational series called, "The Butterfly Effect: Conversations for Black Women to Soar." A companion podcast for this series is in the works. Trish Ahjel Roberts is a blogger, self-actualization coach, yoga and meditation instructor, reiki practitioner, retreat organizer and founder of Black Vegan Life TM and HoneyButterflyz LLC. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and attended Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Metropolitan College of New York and an MBA from Long Island University. She has ten years of Buddhist study at Kadampa Meditation Center in Atlanta, GA and twenty years of yoga experience. She lives with her daughter and their dog in Atlanta, GA. Her new book: "Thinking Outside of the Chrysalis" is available to empower women of color in their healing.
